In good, it's not Shyamalan's film is a film of Will Smith. According to his idea, his submission, his own direct participation and, of course, financing, and in some places and at all under his leadership. M. Night Shyamalan, in this case, was something of a guest - although the language turns the word "dummy" - the stars. Lightning rod on which you can safely blame the failures film. After all, this is Shyamalan - and that's it.
That, however, does not negate the sad truth about the directorial skills of the director. Already hard to believe that at one time it was this director made all the spectators to precipitate the end of "The Sixth Sense." And that he took off just as atmospheric as it is creepy "Signs." Now he - the director of "Phenomena" and the director of "The Last Airbender". Storm producers and horror film fans, capable of even the most interesting idea to drive into the ground of his talent slaughtered with an ax. Now his "death note" enriched the film "After our era."
Still, Will Smith would have cost to take part in the "Django" from which he unwisely refused. We would, of course, lost the pleasure to witness a steep Jamie Foxx, but after a short break in his career Smith takes obviously not there. Suppose that the original idea of this fiction was lovely and intriguing, all resulted in a rather colorless, despite the best efforts of artists and newfangled digital cameras from Sony, a spectacle. "After our era" - the film is perfect, just did fantastically of sterile.
Predictability, as well as the godless zashtampovannost - it's so bad, that you can survive. It would be, if not quite dreary setting. What scenes of battles for survival and that the dramatic scenes - all equally bland and suggest the idea of a sweet half-asleep in the cozy darkness of a cinema hall. And any attempts to diversify the action to bring to it any life. Is the blessed surroundings overgrown jungle of post-apocalyptic Earth, including its fauna, used wisely, is it really does not cancel in places frankly nasty graphics that for a film with a budget just like him, bad taste and a lack of respect for the audience.
What is genuine interest - so it is itself a fantasy world. Behind the scenes remain the most interesting things - like lost planet, why do people have forgotten about firearms, who are the true enemies, who created and unleashed a huge creatures on people? This is not a spoiler, it's a clear foundation for the sequel, which is mentioned only in passing in the beginning, but abruptly and permanently haunting. Riddle. Mystery. No less, incidentally, than the Earth of the future, which for more than a thousand unhappy years has undergone a remarkable change, the plausibility of which there is only left to the mercy of experts. It seems that it will be something to laugh and to cry.
But the most important thing, of course - is the duo of father and son playing a similar role on the screen. Be prepared for the fact that most of Will in the film will be vanishingly small, and all that he will - most of the time keeping lain bleeding, with broken legs. Playing with a serious officer with atrophied sense of humor - that he has, in general, is naturally obtained excellent (sin a great role to play not).
Where to get more attention - and deserve - his son, Jaden. Once again, they are the father, after "The Pursuit of Happyness," played in the movie of the same, and who are in life. Once again, the duo formed without problems. The guy is surprisingly good, and without kinks played a role by filling in all the time keeping him from cover to cover. Not always skillfully, not always coping, he, nevertheless, tries the soul - it shows. Especially because this time it is not just a major role, and the central and all-encompassing. Until a few years of practice and will be no worse than his father - so that the latter can be proud of them. We can only envy the fact, what should be, the atmosphere reigned between them on the set.
Alas, even played a duet on the rescues the film from an emasculated. A kind of family film Smith does not work as a thriller, nor as an adventure, and fantasy to cope with the role badly. Perhaps it would be better if it was to remain within the original concept - the unsuccessful campaign of father and son, because of which the latter had to wade through the woods to find and bring aid to the former. And an intriguing fantasy world to bring to someone else, not Shyamalan. For him, it seems, is no longer the way back.
